Health: Self-Care Practices

I know you see self-care being tossed around a lot lately. It’s important you take of yourself. You can not sever others when you are empty. I add self-care in my monthly goals.

You find yourself busy in the hustle of daily life and find it hard to have ‘me’ time. You have to schedule it sometimes or something will sweep in and take that time away from you. So, if you are feeling drained stop and look at your schedule, are you making time for you.

Self-care is not a one-time deal. Its adding a small habit everyday. Just a little love for yourself.

Here are a few ways to get started:

Eating well – Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants. Eating a healthy diet gives your brain and body what it needs to stay well.

Go Offline – Disconnect. Turn you phone on airplane mode and step away from email and social media.

Workout –  You can do 30 min of yoga and mindfulness, no need for a big fancy workout. Hey turn on your favorite song and shake your booty!!

Read More – It will get your mind of stress, and improves your focus and concentration. Anyone recommend a good book?

Go Outside – Most of us spend the majority of our day inside. Spending time outdoors can do wonders for your health. Take a midday walk, afternoon run or a weekend hike. Whatever fancies you!

Breathing – Take 3 Deep breaths.

MeditateHeadspace is a great app to help you get started.

Remove Negativity – Unfollow people on social media, or don’t respond to a phone call, text message or email from someone. You don’t have to delete people just ‘hide post’.

Gratitude – Start a list of things you are grateful for.

Stay Positive – Go to lunch with an uplifting friend. Write yourself an encouraging note.

There are plenty of ways to fill you up and take care of yourself. What others ways can you think of?
