Godly Parenting Part 1

Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil; for he gives to his beloved sleep. Behold, children are a heritage from the Lordthe fruit of the womb a reward. Psalm 127:1-3

In our children’s rebellion against God, we often see our own detours of faith. Perhaps the only path to take is the one God takes with us. If you want to be an unshakable, joyful, kingdom building mom or dad, you need only to follow Jesus. He is the expert.

He waits. While we worry, he waits. While we wonder, he waits. While we wander, he waits. With love and patience, with unarguable consequences and unwavering willingness to take us back, he waits. As parents do we offer this same love for our children? Our children are watching, what are your actions showing.

I recently asked some people about memories they remembered most and here are my top takeaways:

  • A child who is not listened to, will not listen
  • Having people over regularly – community
  • Pray each day with names
  • Set traditions
  • Family and kids plans – short and long term
  • Don’t complain about work in the family — faith

Childhood is a short season. Parents and future parents, breathe deeply of His grace today and walk confidently knowing He is building something incredible in YOU!
